Frequently Asked Questions

What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership-based model where you pay a simple monthly fee for unlimited access to your doctor. There are no insurance copays, no surprise bills, and no waiting weeks for an appointment. Just a direct relationship with your pediatrician.

What does the monthly membership include?

Your membership covers unlimited office visits, same-day or next-day appointments, and direct access to Dr. McCammack by phone, text, and video. Most routine pediatric care — including well visits, sick visits, and care coordination — is included in your monthly fee.

Do I still need health insurance?

Yes, we recommend maintaining health insurance for things outside the scope of primary care — hospitalizations, specialist visits, imaging, labs, and emergencies. Many DPC families pair their membership with a high-deductible health plan or a health sharing plan to keep overall costs manageable.

Does McCammack Pediatrics accept insurance?

No. By operating outside of the insurance system, we're able to keep overhead low and focus entirely on your child's care rather than on billing and coding. Your membership fee is paid directly to us — simple and transparent.

What if I have an after-hours concern?

For true medical concerns that can't wait until morning, you'll have Dr. McCammack's direct contact information — no after-hours nurse lines, no on-call strangers. That said, after-hours contact is intended for urgent situations, not routine questions or non-urgent concerns. Those are always welcome during regular hours or through a scheduled same-day message. And of course, if your child is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for my membership?

Yes! As of January 1, 2026, both HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) funds can be used to pay for Direct Primary Care membership fees under new federal legislation.

What if my child needs to see a specialist or go to the hospital?

We'll coordinate that care closely with you. While specialist and hospital care falls outside the membership, Dr. McCammack will help navigate referrals and stay involved in your child's care every step of the way.

What ages do you see?

We see patients from birth through 21 years old. If you have a baby on the way, we welcome prenatal meet-and-greet visits so you can get to know us before your little one arrives.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Same-day and next-day appointments are the norm, not the exception. You'll also have direct access to Dr. McCammack for questions that don't require an in-office visit.

How do I enroll?

Enrollment is simple. Reach out to us directly and we'll get your family set up with a membership and your first appointment.
